William + Lauryn's "Love Story" Video
First off, this couple is fantastic. It was great to not only film their Love Story but also be able to hear of their love firsthand. Will and Lauryn wanted to film their interview at BruBurger on Massachusetts Ave in downtown Indianapolis. This restaurant happens to be Lauryn's favorite Burger spot as well as the place Will decided to pop the question!
A day before the shoot I decided to go and check out the venue and it's surroundings. Though I didn't have time, I could smell those burgers and wanted one BAD!
After visiting the restaurant, I was able to speak with General Manager who gave us the "Green Light" to film. We were all clear to talk about love from that point out!
The shoot was scheduled to start at 10AM though as usual, I like to be early for video shoots, so I was able to show up at 8:40AM, setup equipment and frame everything.
By the time William and Lauryn arrived everything was all prepared for them to have a seat and begin the interview process.
One thing I can say about both William and Lauryn is that they are EXTREMELY well spoken. We had a tight window for the interview at BruBurger so I feared the time that re-takes would generate, though they breezed literally through every question. I'm used to people needing to start over for so they can get clean takes of them speaking straight through their answers, which is fine, though this couple didn't need a single re-do.
After the interview was over it was time to get shots of the couple out and about enjoying one another's company. This would be easy for them as they of course love one another. I would be the third wheel, the guy lugging around the huge camera telling them to say "Cheese".
We decided to go the the Canal. This place is in downtown Indy and has beautiful scenery in every direction. This shot was more so an establishing shot so that we could describe to viewers where they were.
While at the Canal, we noticed a rack of bikes that were available for rent, we thought it'd be nice to get some shots of the couple riding around the park. Nonetheless!
After getting the biking shots, my mind began scrambling for more shots. Off in the distance I noticed a building with a rooftop where people where having a party. The edge of the building seemed to be angled toward the downtown landscape. It looked awesome! I hurried to the door of the building though it was locked. I asked waitresses at the restaurant on the first floor how I could obtain access to the rooftop, they told me I needed someone with a key fob. This would be challenging as I didn't know anyone who lived in this building. So......I decided to shout up to the rooftop, explain the video I was shooting and hopefully be let in by the residents. Needless to say, it worked!
The rooftop also had a pool, it was hot outside so the couple had no problem getting shots with their feet in the pool!
The highlight of the entire day for me was being able to sit and talk with William and Lauryn. They are awesome people. We were able to discuss their future, moving another state, life, kids, weddings all while having a great meal. For those interested, it was a chicken sandwich with pineapple, guacamole, jalapeno peppers, American cheese and never mind I'll stop there!
